St Nicholas Church, Stevenage, is a beautiful Grade 1 listed building. There's been a Church on-site since the Saxon times, rebuilt on 1100AD, and many times over the centuries. The floor was becoming dangerous with broken and loose areas throughout the Church and the decision was made to replace the floor, sub floor and heating system with new but sympathetic products to reflect its heritage status.
Lovell Stone Group supplied a bespoke blend of Purbeck Traditional internal flooring which complemented the existing Church interior including 14C Misericords and an ancient stone font. The Purbeck Stone was all quarried and processed by our expert team at Downs Quary, Langton Matravers in Dorset.
A new lime sub floor was installed with lime-based adhesives and grouts used fit the natural stone. In addition, we provided a breathable sealing specification and Eco Protec water based natural stone sealer.
