The RNLI Garden, designed by Chris Beardshaw Design, won Gold at RHS Chelsea Flower 2022. It was a celebration of the history and modernity of this much loved charity, which has been saving lives at sea for almost 200 years. The design captured style hints from the organisation’s Georgian origins with contemporary design cues to reflect the forward-looking spirit of today’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The Garden was sponsored by Project Giving Back.

We supplied our Purbeck Traditional Pitchers and Purbeck Thornback Paving.

Our Purbeck Pitchers and Purbeck Thornback paving were all quarried and processed at Downs Quarry, Purbeck, which is less than 10 miles from the RNLI Headquaters in Poole. And, many of our team have close links to the RNLI crew volunteers at Swanage Life Boat Station.

Each Purbeck Pitcher represents a life lost at sea since the foundation of the RNLI. The attention to detail during the show build was meticulous  - they sorted every pitcher by colour and size (to the nearest mm). The stone paving and pitchers are going to be re-used at different RNLI locations; from the redevelopment of a station Minehead and at their HQ.
