Lovell Stone Group is a second generation family business with a reputation for excellence.

The company has grown significantly over recent years and we now own and operate five quarries within the South West region, all of which offer iconic British stone to customers throughout the UK.

Lovell Stone Group continues to invest heavily in state-of-the-art equipment and training to equip our specialist staff with the tools and resources required to provide leading industry knowledge, experience and insight. Our staff training offers a range of career progression opportunities within the Group and a number of our apprentices have already gained specialist skills for life.

Our long-term goal is to reinforce our position as a market leading provider of local British stone and masonry. We hope to continue developing our business in order to maximise the unique properties of our stone, ultimately ensuring our operation is both profitable and sustainable.

  • Peter Hart, Chairman of Lovell Stone Group sold Formpave to Hanson Group
  • Royal Forest Pennant was formed and then merged with Forest of Dean Stone Firm although Lovell Stone Group are still active shareholders
  • June 2009 – D & P Lovell (Purbeck) assets were purchased and renamed Lovell Purbeck
  • 2010 – a significant investment programme began at Purbeck quarry including the installation of our tile factory
  • 2011 – Lovell Purbeck purchased Bowden’s Quarry, Somerset
  • 2013 – Lovell Purbeck rebranded to Lovell Stone Group
  • 2013 – Lovell Stone Group purchased Chilmark & Chicksgrove quarry, Wiltshire
  • 2013 – Lovell Stone Group purchased Hurdcott Greenstone quarry, Wiltshire
  • 2016 – Lovell Stone took over the lease of Hartham Park Bath Stone underground quarry on 1st February

Simon manages the day-to-day operations of Lovell Stone Group and is responsible for investment, recruitment and accounts. He works closely with all aspects of the business to lead the growth of Lovell Stone Group, including the acquisition of quarries and cutting-edge equipment.


James Hart, Sales Director

James handles all sales enquiries and orders, as well as our key client accounts throughout Lovell Stone Group. He is instrumental in harnessing customer relationships and new business opportunities, and is responsible for the Group’s marketing and sales teams.


Pat George, Director of Operations

Pat who is based at our Purbeck stone quarry in Dorset, has worked for the group for many years as its General Manager, working closely with all our quarry teams to ensure seamless production and customer service. He was promoted to Director of Operations in January 2016, in recognition of the part he has played in the continued growth and success of the company and his years’ of experience and dedication to the stone industry.


Rob Simpson, Estimator/Contracts Manager

Rob is our Estimator and Contracts Manager based from our quarry in Purbeck and liaises with customers from initial project concept through to design, detailing, production and delivery stages.


Geoff Poole, Sales Manager

Geoff is our Sales Manager for building stone products. With extensive industry experience, he looks after a large number of customers throughout the region including builder’s merchants, housebuilders, suppliers and developers


Bill Knight, Sales Representative

Bill has over 20 years’ experience in construction sales and he is responsible for selling a range of traditional British across all sectors of the construction industry. He has extensive experience of working alongside Main Contractors, Sub-contractors, Builders Merchants, Authorities and Architects. He previously worked at Supreme Concrete, Forticrete Architectural Masonry, Eternit Natural Slates and Rawlplug Company Ltd.


Kate Robinson, Marketing & HR Manager

Kate is our Marketing Manager and looks after all our PR, events, advertising, campaigns, social media and strategy. She has over 13 years experience of working within the construction industry.
